How to Get Ready for Cheer Tryouts!
STRETCH! Try to stretch at home at least 3-4 times a week. Getting your body more flexible is a great start for many areas of cheer.
TUMBLE! Take a tumbling class or two before tryouts to get yourself ready to show off your skills! Join our tumbling class at Venture Athletics on Monday nights! All athletes interested in cheering for the Knights are welcome!
STRENGTH! Start adding some cardio and strength into your weekly routine to get yourself stronger. The stronger you are the better you will be at stunting, jumps, tumbling, and everything else involved in cheer.
For current GNHS students utilize the open weight room hours!
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
mornings (6:00-7:30 AM) or afternoons (3:30-5:00 pm)
MOTIONS! Motions are a VERY important part of cheerleading. Watch some videos of simple sideline cheers and practice your motion placement in a mirror. Knowing where certain motions hit and being able to hit them sharp will help prepare you for tryouts.
OPEN GYMS! Attend any open gyms leading up to tryouts to practice stunting and any tumbling you may have.
